Jean was a manager. But not anymore. No, she was done with that. She'd left all that behind her in yesterday. Now, here she found herself driving across the state of Pennsylvania to escape it all.
OK, so not really a full escape. She just needed a break and asked her boss for an impromptu long weekend. It had been such a long time since Friday had felt so free. Surely a weekend at the cabin would help. She just left this morning after reassuring herself that Aaron could manage the restaurant well enough without her.
The roads were pretty nice a few hours ago when she began and the sun had been shining. Now it wasn't so great. Dark clouds covered almost every part of the sky and certainly all of the horizon. The rain hitting the windshield was only light so far and inconsistent but it probably wouldn't stay that way. It was already a bit cold and could drop below freezing anytime. The yellow signs before every bridge, seemingly useless in summer, blared their message at every crossing. "Beware of Ice on Bridge ." At least the cabin would be nice and warm.
